What is a capsule wardrobe?

With growing sustainability consciousness, a minimalist wardrobe is proving to be the best option to combat fast fashion and over consumption. This is why you’re probably seeing the phrase ‘capsule wardrobe’ everywhere. It is essentially a wardrobe which is carefully curated with easily interchangeable items. The benefits of this are not just environmental, it can also provide you with ease of choice each morning when you are looking for an outfit!

 

So, where do we start?

The best place to start is to begin to cull items that you rarely wear. You could either sell them on an app like Depop, give to friends, or drop to your local Vinnies. The best items to keep are those that are comfortable, functional, and fit your lifestyle. Once you are left with a ‘keep’ pile, you can start to see what kind of combinations work together, and you will be able to see what you might be missing.
